Roofers and crew
Two routes: established roofing contractors who want booked work on this coast, and people looking for a position with one of them.
For roofing contractors
Gulfport Roof & Storm books work across Harrison, Hancock and Jackson counties and assigns it to independent contractors. We are interested in established operators who know this coast — not crews following storms through, but companies that will still be answering their telephone in three years when a workmanship question arises.
Verified before any address is passed over: a Mississippi State Board of Contractors licence in a roofing classification where the work exceeds the statutory thresholds, with the number provided in writing rather than described; current general liability cover and, where the crew size requires it, workers' compensation, with the certificate produced; and a working understanding of the permit position in each municipality, which on this coast means knowing that Gulfport requires one on every reroof, that Ocean Springs does the same under a newer code, and that Biloxi has to be asked.
Expected afterwards: no figure quoted without somebody having been on the roof; materials and labour itemised separately before work starts; a per-sheet decking price stated in advance rather than negotiated mid-tear-off; six-nail fastening and the Class H specification as standard rather than on request; and tarping offered before a claim conversation when water is getting in. Those are the terms on which work continues to be assigned, not aspirations.
For roofers and crew
The contractors we assign work to employ their own people and hold the employment relationship. We pass details on where one is hiring. The roles that come up are roofing technicians, tear-off and installation crew, metal fabricators and installers for standing-seam work, and occasionally trainee positions for people entering the trade.
What those contractors ask for: a clean driving record, genuine comfort working at height in Gulf Coast heat, and either demonstrable roofing experience or a serious willingness to be trained properly. Standing-seam metal is a narrower skill set than shingle work and people with it are in demand here. Spanish and English together is practically useful on most crews on this coast.
Getting in touch
Email hello@gulfportroofandstorm.com, putting Contractor or Crew at the start of the subject line so it routes correctly. Include the counties you can cover, a short account of your experience and a telephone number. Contractors should attach the insurance certificate and licence number at the outset, since nothing proceeds without both. A telephone call to (228) 364-1994 works equally well; a formal resume is not needed to start a conversation.
No applicant is ever charged a fee, for any reason, at any stage. Anyone asking for payment in exchange for being placed on a list of roofers is not connected with this business.
